Automatically delete Autorun.inf files

by Muhammad Abdullah in Downloads,Troubleshooting,Windows on January 19, 2009

The small utility has been designed to automatically scan and remove suspicious ‘autorun.inf’ files found in the root directory of drives C-Z. Yes, even before you access the drive!

This is a great solution to viruses coming from Flash Drives as the autorun.inf file contained in the Flash is removed automatically. So the virus can not enter into the system. Although the Flash still contain virus.

We have a virus (?) on some of our machines with the following characteristics:

* Creates an autorun.inf file (I have disabled autorun) which
calls recycle.exe.
* This executable then replicates itself as “Actual
foldernames.exe” with a folder icon and hides the actual folders.
* As a result of known extensions normally being hidden, this
looks like as a folder (same icon is used). Obviously when the user
clicks on the “folder” the virus executes and spreads further.
* It also creates “..exe” and “…exe”in the same folder.

@monag
the virus is penetrating into your system exe files. and the virus could only be removed through an updated antivirus scanning or formatting the entire drive and reinstalling windows

Avira is detecting the created files in the Temp folder (the program creates files in the temp folder) as threats (virus threats). And it won’t start without them. Either tell Avira that your program is safe or change the program’s behavior.

some exe files are created in temp folder but you can safely delete them. they are needed once only the main file is the smart virus remover.exe in program files folder

1st of all this folder is not a virus or harmfull for your computer but if u feel fuzzy then U can use the following instructions to remove the ” Autorun.inf folder” which is created by Flash Disinfector protection softwre.

Go to start
Then in ” Run ” command type “cmd”
When command window open……
Go to the drive containg ” Autorun.inf”.folder. In this tutorial ” C ” drive is containg “Autorun.inf” folder

1= attrib -r -s -h autorun.inf

2= ren \\.\c:\autorun.inf\con. dummy
3= ; edited: Add next line
4= ren \\.\c:\autorun.inf\nul.protected dummy1
5= rd autorun.inf /s /q

If line 2,3,4,5 not works or give some error!! then no need to worry, just type this command and press enter.

rd c:\autorun.inf\nul\. /s /q

Now u can delete “Autorun.inf” folder by right click on folder.

~~~!!! U R Done Njoy !!!~~~
