Important Update: Microsoft has updated its WGA Fix Tool. Now the above mentioned method will not work. Please see my latest article New Windows WGA Fix 1.9.40.0.

I recently wrote about the WGA fix 1.9.9.0 this month. WGA means Windows Genuine Advantage which is a tool required for validating if the installed Operating System is valid or not. The WGA tool is flawed and many people have run into problems with this tool. Microsoft has again changed its Windows Genuine Advantage Tool again this month. Now the new version is 1.9.9.1. Supremo Phantom has already cracked this version also and WGA Fix is available for downloading.

Downloading and Installing Latest WGA Fix

Download WGA Fix

The new WGA Fix can be downloaded from the following location:

[Link removed on request. Copyright issues]

Install WGA Fix

Just Extract all the contents of the WGA Fix above to one folder and run WGASetup.exe.  Follow the instructions and restart the computer. Most probably your problem will be solved. If you’re having any problem, tell me in comments.

Please let me know about your experiences with this latest fix.

ITS A VIRUS!~!!!!!!!!! dont download it!!!!

3 Sanix February 20, 2009 at 2:30 pm

12s how can you say it’s a virus? I have tested it fully and it’s working perfectly. It has also been scanned with Kaspersky Antivirus with latest definitions. No virus found. Please explain your point.

4 ricky February 20, 2009 at 3:02 pm

yes its true theres a virus i just downloaded it today feb 20,2009 600 am, run it then scan with norton 2008 theres a tracking cookie found after i installed this software

5 Sanix February 20, 2009 at 7:21 pm

ricky tracking cookie is something different. It’s not a virus. We use google analytics which uses tracking cookies for its tracking purposes. Nothing serious.

6 Shadowchaser February 21, 2009 at 2:27 am

I have checked it and can confirm that this crack neither installs a virus or a tracking cookie. The only cookies that i’ve found are from the MS validation page.

And to clarify a misunderstanding: This version of WGA crack available here is not cracked by me. It’s a work from “SupremoPhantom”. But this makes no difference. He is a reliable good friend.

7 Sanix February 21, 2009 at 12:08 pm

oh thanks alot Shadowchaser. Actually I found out the link from your comments that’s why I gave your reference. Thanks alot for clarification.

Wocarson,
thanks for linking to the right WGA crack source via your name. :)

12 mickey fickey February 22, 2009 at 3:29 am

That totally worked. Thanks a lot. I feel like a dipstick needing it to begin with.

13 Jacob February 22, 2009 at 2:04 pm

When I run the WGA setup it says that it encountered a problem and has to close . Help plz

14 Alexus February 22, 2009 at 6:29 pm

How come AVG detects a trojan when running WGASetup?

15 Sanix February 22, 2009 at 7:32 pm

Alexus please copy the dll files to your system32 folder. This will also make your Windows and Office genuine

16 Supremo Phantom February 23, 2009 at 2:10 am

Thanks Shadowchaser and Wocarson for spreading my work. :)

I can confirm that the original contents (downloaded from my page) are virus-free, however, some anti-virus software may report it as infected, which is either because of the packer used or because cracks are categorized as illegal software and therefore harmful to the system, so flagged off as a virus/trojan.

rest assured, they are 100% safe to use.

17 Supremo Phantom February 23, 2009 at 2:12 am

AVG is reputed to report maximum false alerts, change your anti-virus asap.

18 Dave February 23, 2009 at 3:05 am

brilliant, for the 2 minutes before it came up with the “software counterfeiting” bollocks again.

19 Eric February 24, 2009 at 10:52 am

use a registry monitor like Winpatrol to monitor any new services added and to monitor startup programs. Can also be used to block out Genuine Advantage tools.

20 Eric February 24, 2009 at 10:57 am

Avg reports too many false positives..WGA 1.9.9.0 is virus free. As for Norton antivirus…you could not pay me to use it.

21 twitch February 24, 2009 at 2:13 pm

You are awesome–that was so easy. Keep up the fantastic work. You are a hero among men and a wonderful person.

22 Wocarson February 24, 2009 at 4:43 pm

Thanks so very much, SupremoPhantom\Shadowchaser

24 yortmiester February 26, 2009 at 3:55 pm

G’day,

I’m hsving trouble getting this to run on vista.
I used compatibility tab to tell wgasetup to run as XP and also to run with administrator priveleges but it stops responding immediately after launching the dos prompt.

is there a way to get it to run or a manual work around?

thanks

30 steve March 1, 2009 at 11:33 pm

Does this fix the WGA intrusions in OFFICE 2007?
My WindowsXP is genuine, but I fear office 2007 is not, which WGA is telling me all about, and cleverly puts a WGA icon in all office suite apps!

31 HardChips March 1, 2009 at 11:33 pm

Thank you very much! It realy works.

It IS NOT a virus!

Try!

32 blayzer March 2, 2009 at 5:21 am

I am having the same problem as Steve and Ryan I run WGAsetup.exe the dos window pops up, and then the program crashes with windows error report.
PLEASE HELP!!!

Works for Office 2007?

34 gmx281 March 2, 2009 at 11:15 am

I am running Vista Home Premium and Office 2007. Vista is a genuine licenced copy and I am not sure about Office 2007. I run 1.9.9.1, goes through the DOS window, does the validation on the Microsoft site, and finally the re-boot……….all ok. The downside is that I then open an Office application and it still comes up as a non Genuine application. All windows updates are set to OFF. Any ideas?

35 Sanix March 3, 2009 at 1:29 am

gmx281, you should also run the Office Genuine Advantage Fix which you can see from the following article.
http://www.technize.com/2009/02/06/download-latest-office-genuine-advantage-1710535-fix/

36 steve March 2, 2009 at 11:48 am

ahhh, I think after reading gmx281 post this does NOT fix Office 2007 WGA problems.. Just windows O/S. damn.

37 Rabbitbait March 2, 2009 at 2:45 pm

Just end the wgatry.exe process and manually copy the
wgatry.exe(crack one) into the C:\window\system32 folder….
Works like a charm!!!!!

38 Bubble March 2, 2009 at 7:23 pm

The program 1.9.9.1 runs flawlessly for XP pro . The black out screen is gone. NAV did not report anything. Please provide another new version next time when Micro$oft escalated the WGA again.

39 Sanix March 3, 2009 at 1:29 am

Bubble keep on visiting http://www.technize.com and you’ll get up to date news and softwares according to your needs. Cheers :-)

still the same

41 kondor March 3, 2009 at 2:39 pm

1. AVG claims that there is a virus – trojan one

2. when trying to exceute the wgasetup.exe – it crashes… several times. no installation can be done

1. AVG claims that there is a virus – trojan one

2. when trying to exceute the wgasetup.exe – it crashes… several times. no installation can be done

3. also – the oga fix doesn’t remove the nag notification about office not genuine

43 gmx281 March 3, 2009 at 2:52 pm

I have re run 1.9.9.1 and also the OGA fix. Everything seems to run as it should, validates erc, but, like Kondor, I still have the annoying icon in the Office Applications that office is not not genuine. is there a prescribed routine or process that I should follow. Should I do this in Safe Mode. Please advise

44 kondor March 3, 2009 at 4:16 pm

i bypassed the installation of wgasetup by copying the 2 dll files to system32 and also copied into the same directory the wgatary.exe

now i have all the dll’s “fixed”…

but… still the office nag within the office programs is showing.

i passed successfully the “authentication” and windows update.. but the nag… well it is nagging…
:-)

45 kondor March 3, 2009 at 10:13 pm

what’s even more funny is that i validated the office at microsoft web site… and downloaded add-ins…..

so.. what causes the “non genuine” button within the office programs ?

46 acteon March 3, 2009 at 10:47 pm

same problem

Word 2003 toolbar about not genuine

yes…. it worked…. thnx :-)

49 mOHSEN March 4, 2009 at 10:56 am

I have tested it today, it has no problem and it removed Genuine advantage notice, but it caused my windows to be restart two times but it’s now working correctly.
Thanks a lot
Good day

50 Moulton March 4, 2009 at 3:10 pm

Thanks for this, my method wasn’t exactly permanate as I thought it was, until I found this nice little program.
My method was just to delete wgaTray.exe and wgalogon.dll sadly 2 days after doing that it installs a helpful update ;) but this program is a really good help thanks

51 chris_ie March 4, 2009 at 10:10 pm

Works a treat many thanks

52 Lawless March 6, 2009 at 9:27 am

Have genuine XP + not Office. Got the blue star. Ran WGA 1.9.9.0 + OGA 1.7.105.35 + WGA 1.9.9.1 as well but AVG said it was a trojan so didn’t allow (I know now that it isn’t from your recent comments). Blue star still disappeared. Have done 2 computers.

53 Ally March 6, 2009 at 5:53 pm

Hi Folks,

I’m having some difficulty. I am trying to install a very old copy of windows xp on a friends computer and no matter what i do i cannot seem to get it reg’d so i can install SP2. I’ve downloaded the crack, installed it and it didn’t work. I then tried and copied and pasted the .exe and the dlls in to 32 and still get the “your hit isn’t legit message” when installing the service pack.

I would be grateful for any help you guys can give

thanks

54 Ally March 6, 2009 at 6:16 pm

Oh and orgot to mention;

When i install the crack the internet window opens and microsoft say the validation is ok. Its not until i run the Service Pack 2 wizard that my shit stops working

Cheers

55 BadBUTA March 6, 2009 at 9:02 pm

I’ve just tried again and seen that wgatray.exe is not appearingi n my process tree at anytime. Could this be why the crack is not working?

I have a few issues:

1) Does this file download work with Service Pack 3?
2) I have had similar issues as a few users have had in the sense that I get the error message when the CMD window pops up. I’ve tried dragging the files from the folder into the System 32 folder. It did them all except for one of the DLL files.
What can I do?

the validation worked (on the validating screen),,

but when I try to download any microsoft software (ie: windows defender, etc) it DOES NOT VALIDATE!!

is this just an Auto Update crack? or does this WGA fix allow for downloadig WGA-protected software?

please let me know as I am now searching for a new crack.

70 Jim March 12, 2009 at 9:42 pm

Thanks man, so far it’s worked like a charm. :)

71 Anon March 13, 2009 at 5:02 pm

Works like a charm, thank you so much.

Indeed, avg flags this as a virus upon running the program, however, after scanning with various av programs (both the file, and the entire system after installation) i can confirm that this is indeed a false positive. There is NO VIRUS in this file.

72 walrus2517 March 14, 2009 at 6:17 am

marc – i had the same problem with wmp 11 (i have xp n installed). windows update works but not software manually downloaded that checks during the install. wmp 10 doesn’t check so i dl’d and was ok.

I have scanned with BitDefender Antivirus and no problem.

Thanks a lot.

used the latest 1.9.9.1 fix,

looked like it worked, it opened the MS site with message validation succesfull

But after reboot the WGA sign was back …

78 Ward March 18, 2009 at 12:29 am

This may work, but i just went into safe mode, ran “regedit” and deletted all registry and directories and that worked for me after the 3rd try lol

79 Jav March 18, 2009 at 3:40 am

Is there anything like this for Windows Vista 64-bit?

80 marc March 18, 2009 at 3:52 am

DONT LISTEN TO WHAT “WARD” SAID!!!!
(2 messages above mine!!)

it is badly worded. it sounds like he is advising you to delete ALL of your registary!! (which would ruin your windows installation and your computer will no longer switch on!!

what you are supposed to do is delete only the registary entries that are assosiated to WGA.

and dont mess around with teh registary junless you know exactly when you are supposed to delete!! it can be detrimental to your computer!!

81 mrk March 18, 2009 at 4:12 am

Worked exactly on XP Pro OS and no Problem for me.

Please advise me If I can turn on Automatic Updates further..
Thanks in advance!!

82 Jav March 18, 2009 at 5:10 am

I guess I should re-word my question:
Is there something like 1.9.9.1 fix for Vista 64-bit?, I ran this on my Vista 64-bit but it did not work. I realize this was not made for Vista but I thought I would try anyway. I could use this for my Vista 64-bit or other similar solutions if someone has any suggestions..

83 Sanix March 18, 2009 at 10:09 am

Jav I’m trying to find out a solution for 64 bit machines. If you find one, please let me know. Thanks.

84 Captain Snooze March 18, 2009 at 3:00 pm

This round of WGA seems to be targeted at Windows machines with old Volume License Agreement licenses. Mine is Win XP Pro SP3 on an Athlon 64 X 2. It has survived at least 3 previous Genuine Advantage upgrades but 1.9.9.1 failed to Validate. Microsoft advice on how to remove the nags worked ok but Windows update repeatedly wanted to reinstall wgatray.exe … so no Windows update.

This patch worked a treat, running in Windows (not safe mode) with Zone Alarm firewall and Avast both running. Neither complained and scans revealed no virus.

I think many of the people having problems might do better if they disabled their antivirus and/or firewall before applying the patch.

Thanks for a great patch.

Thanx a bunch!!!!!

88 Sanix March 20, 2009 at 8:38 am

worry, copy all the dll files to your system32 directory and it should work fine.

bhajipauv, yes this will allow automatic updates.

i m having a problem with media player 11. it says that the windows is not genuine. i used the above patch but still its saying your windows is not genuine..

96 Sanix March 22, 2009 at 11:31 pm

asim, media player 11 includes its own validation tool. Just extract the contents of the setup file and install from the extracted files without touching the legit check.

it doesn’t have any legit check…

98 Sanix March 23, 2009 at 12:23 am

asim you have to extract the setup package and then only you can see the legit check.

106 ... March 27, 2009 at 8:46 am

elaborate “shut u down”??

107 froggyskins March 28, 2009 at 12:42 am

how about we all set our updates to let us know when updates are available and not to automatically install them…that way we can choose not to install wga when it comes up… then you wont have a problem with wga anymore. so you should only need this fix once.

108 Ignas March 28, 2009 at 1:11 pm

the crack works. ok fine.

But it doesnt work if I want to download something like windows media player 11, or other software from the windows update site.

can you confirm this is true.

is there any way of downloading software from the windows update site? (ie: media player 11 and defender, etc)

111 Budak Kg March 29, 2009 at 2:25 pm

Why mine didn’t work. i still have the logo “ask for genuine microsoft software”. and when I have finished the crack, it said that it is for windows Xp 3. Could this mean this is not for vista?

I dont know how xp suddenly failed the validation after all these years (that microsoft update became active again and somehow wormed its way past me, after I blocked it ages ago).
Anyway, thanks for this, it works fine, thanks. :)

116 d@t March 31, 2009 at 3:02 am

117 mrmike March 31, 2009 at 9:16 am

118 a March 31, 2009 at 11:39 am

the files have virus with it

Win32/Rekwoj.A is a worm that is capable of propagating via peer-to-peer networks, Internet Relay Chat, network drives and email. It uses component malware like MIRC/Rekwoj.A, BAT/Rekwoj.A and VBS/Tiltel to execute its behavior.

119 yoyoy April 2, 2009 at 6:15 am

It doesnt have a virus “A”, stop your bullshit

120 Trinitro April 17, 2009 at 6:17 pm

I have this installed the past few days and whilst nod32 and a-squared reports that there is no malware (yet) dep has blocked windows explorer and a couple of other slightly strange things have occured.
might be malware free and might not as far as i`m concerned.I wont fret over it too much though seeing as this pc is mainly for gaming and browsing etc with no chance of unwanted info getting out cos that stuffs done on my gen install pc.

121 Goomba April 20, 2009 at 2:08 am

Validation said the key was from the wrong region, did not validate.

JohnG you should use the latest fix for Windows Genuine Advantage tool which can be found here:

124 darkic May 27, 2009 at 7:21 pm

133 Charles August 12, 2009 at 2:13 am

This is not clean, AVG detected backdoor upon attempting to install. Fucking bullshit.

134 Roy_F August 17, 2009 at 4:25 pm

ALL cracks etc will often be detected as a virus by AV software because they change or overwrite some Windows system files.

If you feel uneasy, run the crack first, then delete it. Then run the AV software.
Unless you have something ‘else’, you should have a clean report.
Beware AV software showning up harmless cookies, they do this so as to be seen as ‘doing something’, as soon as you use the Internet afterwards you get more of them. They are just configuration settings etc.

I have yet to hear of anyone being murdered in their beds by a computer virus, something to think about.

135 Alex August 20, 2009 at 9:17 pm

138 Hellfirehound September 11, 2009 at 8:37 pm

Right, once and for all, in plain english…

Hacking programs such as keygens or cracked dlls will register in most anti-virus programs as a virus or malware.

The point of having keygens or cracks is to get round security systems such as WGA etc.

OF COURSE ANTI VIRUS PROGRAMS ARE GOING TO TELL YOU VARIOUS THINGS!!!

If you dont trust the majority of people who say it works fine then you need to save up and buy a genuine copy, or have a friend who knows what they’re on about do it for you.

Now please, for the love of god, get on with it and stop the name calling

139 eddie corzova September 12, 2009 at 3:39 pm

I keep on getting this… It’s not working for me :(

Windows Genuine Advantage (WGA) v1.9.9.1 Crack Installe has encountered a problem and needs to close. We are sorry for the inconvenience.

Debug..Send or dont send —> i click don’t send

140 zingwoot September 13, 2009 at 2:15 am

AHAHAHAA – You people thinking that wga-fix, and key finder etc are Viruses. THEY ARE NOT. I had those problems like a year before they updated it, saying it was a virus. Same program, now suddenly they say it’s a virus. That same year, I read an article that said Microsoft had some kind of partnership or something going with Norton. My guess is that Microsoft got Norton to flag these softwares as virus/trojans etc to protect their operating system. But Here is the funny thing. If you delete the file and scan your entire system for viruses, you will find ZERO. Assuming you didn’t have them before. If it’s a true virus, when does it only report the file as one, but nothing else? I’ve run firewall software, and it detected nothing. I ran Registry tracking software, and no harmful changes, NOTHING. It’s not a virus. They just want you to think it’s one.

141 Tim September 17, 2009 at 2:24 pm

I’ve run the crack but the WGA thing still comes up. Do i need to go through the WGA validation once to make it work? (Not too brill with computers!)

142 Roy_F September 17, 2009 at 2:33 pm

Write a comment…

143 Roy_F September 17, 2009 at 2:36 pm

Tim
You did turn off automatic updates didn’t you?
I mean even if the crack works, you would just get it again.
May be a silly question, but you did say that you knew little about computers.

144 Tim September 18, 2009 at 6:15 pm

Didn’t have a clue! I’ll have to turn them off, install the WGA, then run the program. Will that work ok? Are automatic updates totally useless then?

145 Tim September 18, 2009 at 6:18 pm

I had to get a new hard drive on Monday, got a mate to sort it. So at the mo i’m short of any antivirus software. Is automatic updates a useful virus protection?

146 Roy_F September 18, 2009 at 7:01 pm

OK Tim
Go to Control Panel, switch to “Classic View” if not already this, then click “Automatc Updates”
Select “Notify me but dont automatically download or install them”
You will know when there are updates ready by the little yellow shield in the botton right hand corner.
Click on this and you will get a list.
Look for “Windows Genuine Advantage” and clear the check box next to it.
When you click “Download” a message box will pop up telling you that some will not be downloaded. There is a box to check “Dont ask me again” or similar. Atone time this would stop it for good, but Micro$oft keep bringing out new versions, so expect to have to do this every 3 months.
Thing about updates, people not on the Internet cant get them, except the service packs on disk, yet their machines still run.
A good antivirus that costs jack is the AVG free one, probably as good as anything.

Working just fine and seems to have cleared the problem… Thanks a lot! :-)

151 Steve Nancoo October 25, 2009 at 11:25 pm

Thanks for the fix! It worked so fast—I didn’t even get a chance to blink! To all those making those nasty comments—give this guy a chance! He may not be able to help everyone out there—-but for those he has helped—like myself—I commend you highly! Keep up the great work!

152 Dirk October 27, 2009 at 5:28 am

Ditto! Nice, nice, nice and thanks a bunch. I have an old notebook, purchased on a yard sale and did not have a clue what the history of the installed copy of XP pro was…..and after SP2 the WGA kept nagging me at each reboot – GONE!!!

153 Colin October 31, 2009 at 3:43 pm

hey u mother fucker I got a virus on my pc thx to you, luckly i have a virus scanner so nothing happend hope the rest don`t download from this ass again !!!!!

Latest Windows Genuine Advantage (WGA) 1.9.9.1 Fix Download = TROJAN HORSE SHIT !

154 Sanix October 31, 2009 at 11:39 pm

@Colin
Kindly mind your language. We have already been discussing about this virus thing. This is a false positive from many antivirus systems. This is because this tool tries to replace system files which have to be replaced to get rid of WGA and OGA.

159 Tobias November 10, 2009 at 2:09 am

SO my hard drive crashed…I have an XP Pro install disc with a suspect key code. It installs but I get the activation notification for making it genuine. Will I be able to download SP2 and SP3 or will it lock on me? Thanks!

160 Roy_F November 12, 2009 at 8:22 pm

Yes Mr Tobias
You can install SP 2 off a disk that the computer mags distributed as well as download.

SP 3 has some new security but also some nuisances such as pop up warnings if you try to run an exe file over a network.

There is an old code however that SP2 will not install on, its FCKGW-RHQQ2-8TG6W-2BTQS.
This has been all round the world and Microsoft have blacklisted it.
