When Windows Vista was released, there was a lot of confusion about how many editions did it have and what were the features of each edition. Abdullah explained in detail in his article about Windows Vista Editions. Now that Windows 7 has been released, I thought I’d better write about all Windows 7 Editions. Even though people have got used to Microsoft different editions for the same product strategy, but it’s important for us to understand what are the differences among all these editions of Windows 7.
The below picture from Microsoft explains the basics of each edition of Windows 7.
If we want to have a closer look at the features offered in each edition of Windows 7, we have to see the following chart:
This chart pretty much sums up the key features of each edition of Windows 7. Now you can easily decide which edition you should go for.
Please note that the only difference between Windows 7 Ultimate Edition and Windows 7 Enterprise Edition is that the Enterprise Edition is distributed via distributors. It is not available as a retail product. I have already written about how to download a 90 day trial of Windows 7.
