1. Thermaltake Core V21 SPCC M-ATX

Thermaltake Core V21 SPCC Micro ATX Cube Computer Chassis CA-1D5-00S1WN-00View on Amazon

Thermaltake Core V21 SPCC is a multipurpose case and looks unlike anything in its product class. It supports both micro ATX and mini ITX motherboards and can be used in both vertical and horizontal orientations. Thermaltake markets the case to have “Chamber concept design” and “flexible thermal solution”.

This case packs all the essentials. It has three 3.5” drive bays or hard disk drives and another three 2.5” drive base for solid-state drives, which also can be used for small form factor hard drives. The case has one 200mm fan pre-installed with it. And the front I/O consists of two USB 3.0 ports and an HD audio port combo.

The maximum graphics card clearance is 350 mm, and the maximum PSU length is 200mm. Up to two graphics cards can be used with the case. Graphics cards can also be mounted vertically with the help of vertical PCI Express mounts if the user desires so.

Due to the unique size of the case, airflow intake and exhaust can be a problem. The case does not have enough front exhaust space and no bottom fan mounts. Furthermore, the case does not support any dust filters whatsoever, so for the enthusiasts who want to keep their rig clean, better look for other options.

2. Cooler Master HAF XB EVO

Cooler Master HAF XB EVO - High Air Flow Test Bench and Lan Box Desktop Computer Case with ATX Motherboard SupportView on Amazon

Just like its name, the outer looks of the Cooler Master HAF XB EVO makes very little sense. It looks like home theater systems of the recent past. People without high expertise in computers can be easily fooled into believing that this might not be a computer case at all.

But this bulky little box compensates for it by its versatile usability. This is an ATX PC case that also can be used as a LAN server box and even as a test bench for hardware testing. The HAF XB EVO supports full ATX motherboards. And the VGA clearance for this case is rated at 334mm.

Cooler master packs two high-quality fans with the case which are mounted at the front. The front panel also supports a 240mm radiator. And the case is said to support four 3.5” hard drives or 2.5” SSD drives.

Due to its bulkiness, this case is heavier than the competition. The unique form factor can also pose problems for first time PC buyers because motherboard and the main I/O components are not mounted in the same way as other cases in the market. Cooler Master does provide proper documentation to mitigate these issues.

3. Cooler Master Stryker SE (SGC-5000W-KWN2)

Cooler Master RC-130-KKN1 Elite 130 - Mini-ITX Computer Case with Mesh Front Panel and Water Cooling SupportView on Amazon

The Stryker SE from Cooler Master is a true enthusiast’s dream case. Cooler Master has packed as many pro features as possible in this white box. The unique specification for this case would be the X-Dock, which is essentially a hot-swappable 2.5” drive bay for SSDs or hard disk drives.

This case also has a fully functional control module on top of it, which can be used to control internal fan speeds, RGB lighting, etc. The top panel also hosts LED indicators and four USB ports. Stryker SE comes with extensive motherboard form factor support – ranging from ATX to mini ITX and even XL-ATX.

One full 240mm radiator can be mounted on top or bottom, and the front supports 360mm radiators. The case has a tempered glass side panel and top handles for easy mobility. A total of seven 2.5” drives can be mounted – two of those can be converted into 3.5” bays.

There is basically very little to criticize about the case. The lack of mesh panels in the front could bother some users, although the front panel has adequate spacing. Some users have also wished for a different color combination than the boring white and black.

4. Cooler Master MasterBox Q300P

Cooler Master MasterBox Q300P mATX Tower w/ Front & Top Dark Mirror Panel, Transparent Acrylic Side Panel, Adjustable I/O & 2x 120mm RGB Fans w/RGB ControllerView on Amazon

This cute little box can be set up in any orientation the user desires. It is also completely square – quite a breath of fresh air amidst the same looking rectangular cases on the market. The Q300P has unibody handles in both the top and bottom, which serve two purposes – easier handling and adequate air exhaust.

Cooler Master equips its MasterBox Q300P with two 120mm RGB high-performance fans, one RGB controller, and splitter. Newer users who are into RGB will not have any problem setting it up.

The case supports micro ATX and mini ITX motherboards. Up to two 2.5” and only one 3.5” storage drives can be mounted into the case. The case has a tempered glass side panel on one side and no air filtration.

There is no place for air intake in the front – which certainly is a big handicap for the thermal system on the inside. Cooler Master does not mention the VGA clearance on the store page.

5. Cooler Master MasterCase H100

Cooler Master MasterCase H100 Mini-ITX PC case with a 200mm RGB Fan, Fine Mesh Front Panel, Built-in HandleView on Amazon

The Cooler Master MasterCase H100 is a mini ITX case released in 2019. Cooler Master marketed this case to have “fine mesh variation”, and the products live up to it.

Despite its size, the case has two dust filters – one at the top and another in the front. Additionally, Cooler Master packs this case with a behemoth 200mm RGB fan for air intake. Even though the case is quite small in size, users will have ample room for storage expansion.

Up to four 2.5” drives can be installed into this case – one of which can be extended to host 3.5” hard drives. The case supports full ATX PSUs – unlike most of the mini ITX cases out there.

One full PCI Express card can be installed in the case with a VGA clearance of 210mm. The front I/O panel has two USB 3.0 ports, an audio jack, and a built-in RGB controller, making the case this small does come with sacrifices.

There is only one fan mount (in the front). There is no tempered glass panel in the case, so gamers who would want to show off their battle stations might not be interested. Cable management would also be a problem for its size.

6. Cougar Panzer Max Ultimate Full Tower

Cougar Panzer Max Ultimate Full Tower Gaming CaseView on Amazon

This behemoth of a case has support for up to eight fans – the most for any PC case of caliber. So, enthusiast builders might choose this case for this reason alone. Cougar claims this casing to have “military-style design” and “easily moldable”.

Additionally, the case also has mesh patterns in the front – providing proper dust filtration.

Cougar has equipped the Panzer Max Ultimate with maximum expandability in mind. The case has support for four double slot PCI express cards with a maximum clearance of 390mm. It’s also one of the very few cases in the recent few years to have ODD (optical disc drive) support.

The case also has six SSD bays or up to two hard drive bays and four SSD bays. And the Panzer Max has support for 360mm radiators in both front and top. Motherboards ranging from mini ITX to all the way up to Extended ATX can be mounted.

One only valid criticism against this case would be the overarching gamer look on every side of the case. Content creators and stealth lovers might want to look elsewhere for their case needs.

7. Corsair Obsidian 500D SE Mid Tower

CORSAIR OBSIDIAN 500D RGB SE Mid-Tower Case, 3 RGB Fans, Smoked Tempered Glass, Aluminum Trim - Integrated COMMANDER PRO fan and lighting controllerView on Amazon

The Obsidian Pro is Corsair’s ultra-enthusiast series of PC cases and thus come with hefty price tags. But the Obsidian line of products does also pack enough features to justify the price. The Obsidian 500D has a unique feature set containing Corsair’s trademark iCue lighting and ‘wing-sized’ side panels.

Corsair sells the case with a stealth black looks. Weighing at just over 25 pounds, the Obsidian 500D SE is built of solid aluminum. It can host up to five 120mm fans (or four 140mm fans), and Corsair includes three of their RGB fans with the case. Users can mount one full 360 mm radiator in the front of the case.

This case has one of a kind I/O module on its front panel – it consists of two USB 3.0 Type-A ports and one USB 3.0 Type-C port, not to mention the HD audio ports. But the lack of fan controls or RGB headers upfront for a case this expensive leaves something to be desired.

PSU shroud for the case covers only half of the case, which leaves some open space in front of the cables – an unwelcome feature for modders. There is not enough room for air intake for the front fans.

8. Silverstone Technology Mini-ITX ML08 (Version 1)

SilverStone Technology Mini-ITX Slim Small Form Factor Computer Case with Handle ML08B-HView on Amazon

Narrowest of the bunch, this Silverstone case has a width of only 3.43 inches. This type of case has specific use cases and dedicated user bases for them. Silverstone markets the case to be “A compact case full of features”. The case has a steel body for reinforced durability.

Coming in only 12 liters, this case has very compact interiors. It has support for mini ITX motherboards and SFX form factor PSUs. The case has a dedicated housing for graphics cards with VGA clearance of 330mm. Up to two 2.5” storage drives can be mounted in the tool-less drive cages.

The case can be used in both vertical and horizontal orientations. It is meant for enthusiasts who crave for near-silent PCs. The front panel consists of two USB 3.0 ports and HD audio outputs. Silverstone has also added two Kensington locks for additional security.

Thermal throttling is a major issue for this Silverstone case. It has no case fans at all, and there is very little space between the graphics cardholder and case wall. The graphics card and the CPU will definitely bottleneck under heavy load.

And the maximum CPU cooler height is rated at 58mm. The SFX-format power supply units are also hard to find and can be rather expensive.

9. Cooler Master MasterCase MC500 Mid Tower

Cooler MasterMCM-M500-KG5N-S00 MasterCase MC500 Mid-Tower ATX Case w/Freeform Modular, Front Mesh Ventilation, Tempered Glass Side Panel, Carrying Handle & Cable Management Cover, MC500 Mid TowerView on Amazon

This is the best Cooler Master case out there in terms of functionality. It boasts Cooler Master’s trademarked “Freeform modular system”, which enables easy upgradability and modality. Cooler Master has equipped this case with front mesh panels for dust filtration and a one-sided tempered glass side panel.

Elsewhere, the case also has two handles for moving it around. On the inside, the MC500 can be installed with up to ten 2.5” drive bays – some of which also can be modified for 3.5” hard drive use. The case also houses ODD bays for disc drives.

There are several 120mm and 140mm fan slots, and the case supports one 360mm radiator. Cooler Master has also built a place for up to 35mm cable routing behind the motherboard for clean and aesthetic cable management. There are dust filters in top, front, and bottom – providing full dust protection.

Although the case is mostly built of metal, the top handles are made of plastic – which raises questions about their durability. The users should be cautious while handling the case.

10. In Win Motorcycle Steel Tube

In Win Motorcycle Steel Tube Mini- ITX Computer Case D Frame Mini RedView on Amazon

This has to be the strangest looking PC case any PC enthusiast has ever seen. Structured of thick aluminum tubes all around and tempered glass panel on one side, this case will definitely give a unique look to anyone’s PC if they wish so. In Win sells this case in different color options.

In Win markets this case as “perfect LAN rig or portable PC”. The case is mostly open, which allows for heavy airflow on all sides of the case. Also, the case has multiple fan mounts to further bolster the overall airflow. A full-size PSU can also be mounted with an overall horizontal clearance of 220mm.

The case supports both ATX and micro ATX sized motherboards. And the complete lack of any kind of cover or filters in the front or back can be pretty bothering. Dust can flow in quite easily in this case and settle in, making it a mess quite easily.

Additionally, the case only supports expansion cards with only eight lanes of PCI express – making it a hard buy for performance conscious gamers.

Moreover, the unusual size of the case makes it hard to easily set up or upgrade. The plastic inner case that holds the motherboard can easily break, making the case unusable. These problems make this case hard to recommend despite its dashing looks.

Conclusion

We would choose two cases among the ten we reviewed to recommend to our buyers. The ‘Cougar Panzer Max Ultimate Full Tower’ receives our wholehearted recommendation for being a jack of all trades.

SSD bays, hard drive bays, optical drive support, multiple graphics card support, extensive motherboard form factors, overkill cooling solution capability – this case has it all.

Cougar built upon their trademark case design for which they are known for and completely maxed out the design potential. This is literally the “one case to rule it all”.

For users who would like something out of the ordinary and form factor, we would like to recommend the ‘Cooler Master MasterCase H100’. This is a really small mini ITX case, but it gets the job done quite skillfully.

Don’t forget to let us know how much you liked our best portable pc case reviews.

Equipped with a big Cooler Master Fan and fine mesh on the front, Cooler Master made sure the overall cooling solution is satisfactory and serviceable.

While the case lacks some aesthetic features, mini ITX case lovers will definitely like this case for its size and functionality.
